ISEF SPONSORSHIP EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Join the exclusive group of forward- thinking corporations, foundations, organizations, and individuals that provide sponsorship support at the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). As a sponsor, you have the opportunity to: • Inspire tomorrow’s STEM leaders and innovators. • Increase brand awareness and loyalty by connecting directly with the next generation of scientific and engineering leaders. Join the ISEF Sponsor Community • Develop unique, individual relationships with global talent in 80 countries, regions, and territories through the Society for Science & the Public’s (the Society’s) network of 425 affiliated science fairs. Depending on your level of sponsorship, there are special branding benefits, including banners and signage, promotion, and networking opportunities. In addition to the sole title sponsorship, there are three other categories of sponsorship participation: Finalist Sponsorship, Grand Awards Category Sponsorship, and Event and Branding Opportunities. • Drive media coverage around your company’s commitment to STEM.

SPONSOR STUDENT FINALISTS Provide financial support for the participa- tion of ISEF finalists from a regional fair of your choice. Student finalists come from affiliated fairs located around the world. Just let us know which fair or fairs you wish to support. Benefits include branding throughout the fair and in ISEF promo- tional materials, as well as a discount in the ISEF Commons. A supporter may also sponsor just the travel portion of a finalist’s expense through a travel grant.

SPONSOR A GRAND AWARDS CATEGORY

Fund the Awards for one or more of the 21 different categories of ISEF projects. The name of each Category Sponsor will be associated with the Awards in the Society’s media announcements. The sponsor will be branded on Exhibit Hall signage, recognized in ISEF promotional materials, and have an exhibit booth in a featured location. Sponsors enjoy many other benefits, as well. Sponsors may also provide funding for Special Awards or Experiential Awards. SPONSOR AN ISEF EVENT AND OTHER BRANDING OPPORTUNITIES Provide support for an event, ranging from an exciting panel with superstars to the finalists’ Pin Exchange. Also, many of the logistical aspects of ISEF, including the Registration Complex, Finalist Exhibit Hall Display and Safety booth, airport transportation, and volunteer functions provide excellent opportunities for sponsors to be associated with ISEF and show outstanding support. Event and branding opportunity sponsors receive signage at the location of the event, are recognized in ISEF materials, and enjoy many other benefits.

Sponsorship Guidelines

ABC Company, located in Wisconsin, wishes to sponsor the Wisconsin finalist delegation of 10 finalists for $40,000. ABC Company also wishes to sponsor the Adult Mixer for $175,000 and wishes to pick up the Materials Science Grand Awards Category for $300,000. ABC Company would then be a Founder-Plus, based on the following calculation: EXAMPLE OF RECOGNITION LEVEL CALCULATION

Meet the New Generation of Innovators ISEF: The World’s Premier Pre-Collegiate STEM Competition

Since 1950, Society for Science & the Public has provided an international stage for the world’s best and brightest young scientists through its International Science and Engineering Fair, the world’s premier STEM competition. Every year, as part of the ISEF pipeline, tens of millions of students compete in science fairs around the globe at local, regional, and national levels. Hundreds of thousands rise to compete in the Society’s more than 425 ISEF-affiliated fairs in more than 80 countries, regions, and territories. Top winners at these fairs—about 1,800 students, almost half of them girls—earn the right to compete each May in the weeklong ISEF event. More than one quarter of the finalists either have a patent on their research or have a patent pending or in application. Student finalists showcase their independent research in 21 judging categories and compete for nearly $5 million in awards. The subject of two recent, critically acclaimed movies ( Inventing Tomorrow and Science Fair ), ISEF inspires millions of students to think differently and build a better future. Alumni—including Nobel Prize winners—have gone on to receive many honors, found companies, create solutions to the world’s most intractable problems, and contribute to a more scientifically literate society.

Sponsor Student Finalists

ISEF finalists represent the top young STEM talent across the globe—tomorrow’s STEM leaders and innovators, who will take on the biggest questions and challenges facing our world. Student finalists come from about 80 countries, regions, and territories through the Society’s network of 425 affiliated science fairs, comprising about 300 fairs in the United States and 125 internationally. We ask sponsors to support a finalist or finalists from one or more specific affiliated fair delegations at $4,000 per finalist. Please let us know which fair or fairs you wish to support. Note that $1,000 of the per-student contribution goes directly to the student’s affiliated fair, and the $3,000 balance covers the ISEF per-student cost, including facility, exhibits, and operations. For example, if you wish to sponsor the 10 finalists from Wisconsin, the total contribution would be $40,000. Of that, $10,000, or 25%, will be split among the four Wisconsin-based affiliated fairs. Alternatively, you may provide general support for finalists, designated for an area of most urgent need. The Society will select the student(s) and affiliated fair(s) that will benefit from your support, and will let you know who you have helped.

BENEFITS INCLUDE • Being featured as a Finalist Sponsor with a “Shout Out” on screen at the Opening Ceremony, in the ISEF program book, on the website, at the Opening Ceremony and in the Society’s Annual Report. • Attendance at the Leaders Reception, Opening Ceremony, and Special and Grand Awards Ceremonies. • For Finalist Sponsors who identify a preferred affiliated fair to support, that fair will be notified of your support, if desired, for consideration for local recognition. • Sponsors of $25,000 or more receive the opportunity to host an exhibit booth in the ISEF Commons at a 25% discount. • For sponsors who give $25,000 or more, a 50% discount on an advertisement in Science News , whose in-depth reporting on science topics now reaches 4,600+ high schools and 100,000 digital and print subscribers. BENEFITS INCLUDE • Being featured as a Travel Grant Sponsor in the program book, on the website, and in the Society’s Annual Report. • Attendance at the Leaders Reception, Opening Ceremony, and Special and Grand Awards Ceremonies. • For Travel Grant Sponsors who identify a preferred affiliated fair to support, the travel grant funds will be sent to that fair with identification of the donor for appropriate recognition. • If you wish, the Society will determine the affiliated fair to receive your travel grant.

Sometimes the only barrier to participation for students from affiliated fairs is securing funding for the travel expenses. The costs associated with travel to ISEF can be a significant portion of the finalists’ affiliated fair budget and a limiting factor for deserving students presenting at ISEF. Your contribution to support finalist travel expenses goes a long way toward removing this barrier to participation, particularly in underserved areas.

ISEF SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

The projects created by ISEF finalists represent leading ideas that address important questions and challenges facing our world. Each project is assigned to one of 21 different categories. In 2019, there were approximately 50–100 projects in each category. Grand Awards Category Sponsors provide $300,000 per awards category. This contribution funds the awards for first through fourth place in each category, with 15%–20% of the sponsorship going to the awards purse. Your contribution will also provide general program support for ISEF. Sponsor a Grand Awards Category
